Where could I go to talk to someone about volunteering?

I live in Maine and I want to volunteer but the issue is I don't know who to talk to about it. I dont want a generic site telling me what I can do, I want to talk to someone face to face about it. I'm seventeen just so noone suggests anything that evades legality.
