What is the best laptop I can get for ~500 pounds?

My birthday is coming up, my 18th, and I've been told to expect to receive in the region of �500. I'm pretty happy with that, and I plan to take advantage of it by getting myself a decent new laptop. However, I'm not the most tech or bargain savvy. I just know I want something with decent RAM because I like to run for example my browser, word processor and media player at the same time, even my webcam sometimes too. My current laptop can't really handle it though. I'm not interested in screen size, hard disk size, aesthetics or ergonomics. I just want the best possible raw spec laptop within this price range, including if feasible, decent graphics capabilities. If y'all know of any such wonderlaptop, please spread the love :)
