Pride and Prejudice & the Great Gatsby?

what is the appearance vs. reality problem in the jane austen book, Pride and Prejudice? I have to compare Pride and Prejudice and the Great Gatsby together and i'm just curious on other people point of view on how there is an appearance vs reality conflict in both novels.
